Kour Pour Is An Artist Who Lives And Works In Los Angeles. He Has Exhibited Work Internationally With Shows In New York, Berlin, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Chicago, Tehran And Tokyo. He Creates Works That Draw Upon Different Cultural And Art Historical Languages. His Paintings Have Included References To Persian Carpets, Japanese Ukiyo-e Prints As Well As American And European Abstract Painting. Working With A Variety Of Images And Processes His Work Is Informed By His Time Growing Up In The U.k. With A Mixed Race British/iranian Identity, As Well As His Experiences Of Travel And Immigration To The Usa.

For This Collaboration With Necessity Sense, Three Paintings From Kour Pour’s Onnagata Series Have Been Selected And Transformed Into Garments. Interested In Japonisme, The Japanese Influence On Western Art And Culture, Kour Pour Created Large-scale Abstract Paintings On Canvas Using The Multi-color Woodblock Printing Process. The Paintings Are The Result Of Cultural Exchange, Mixing The Western Tradition Of Abstract Painting With The Japanese Tradition Of Woodblock Printing Found In Ukiyo-e Prints.
